The focus of this signature project is to provide a marketing plan to help improve the Campus Trust. The objective of this plan will be to enlighten post-‐secondary students on what the Campus Trust is and how it can be of benefit to their institution. Insurance companies set the price and structure of a benefit plan, and the educational institution has to pay the bill. The insurance companies provide a competitive price, but have the ability to change the price as they see fit after the educational institution signs a multi-‐year contract. The Campus Trust self-‐funding option allows the educational institution to set the price and the amount of coverage. If there is a surplus, the educational institution is able to retain the funds in a reserve investment account. In-‐depth interviews and a 55-‐question survey were employed to guide the development of this marketing plan. Surveys were sent to all post-‐secondary institutions across Canada that are not directly associated with the Campus Trust. The email survey, which was emailed to 170 staff members and student leaders, had a response rate of 26%, which is above average for email surveys. The results of the study revealed that the Campus Trust should spend more time on customer service, education, financial transparency, keeping costs low and increasing innovation initiatives. Based on these findings, the Campus Trust, its board of trustees, and its eleven participating institutions (hereafter referred to collectively as the “Trust”) will endeavor to implement changes through committee work.
